Injustice somewhere, injustice eveywhere!

Temesgen Beyene

This morning, I woke up to a news that an Ethiopian news anchor called Temesgen Beyene working for Ethiopian Television, a state media which is a complete propaganda machine and nothing more, was attacked by unidentified people. So far, I didn’t came across any information to the identity of the people that attacked him.

But blames are already on the social media. And some people appeared ‘concerned’ about the news and condemned the act, perhaps rightly. Among those were, people that have information of other similar acts in the past but refrained from doing the same, only different because the victims where not publicly known, were private media journalists or because they were committed by power holders.

I am not against anyone that is condemning this latest act. In fact, I think it is outrageous. I am just saying such acts must be treated sensitive, regardless of on whom or by whom they are committed.

People, we may always have differences. If we solve our differences together, with the will of everybody involved, it will last forever. But if, in the contrary, we solve it by force, it will only remain that way until the time we have the force with us.
